Crews battle large blaze at Hamilton Mountain care home

More than two dozen firefighters responded this weekend to a multiple-alarm structure fire at a care home on the Hamilton Mountain.
Flames were seen coming from the two-storey care home at 6 Nina Court around 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
The house serves as a care home for people with developmental disabilities.
There were reportedly seven people inside the home at the time of the fire, but all of them got out safely and there were no injuries.

The fire chief says first arriving crews were met with a large working fire in the garage that extended through the roof.
Fire crews were able to stop the progress of the fire with their initial attack and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring houses.
The cause of the fire along with the estimated cost of damage is still being investigated, and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been notified.
