Emergency responders were called out to an early morning fire at a downtown Hamilton business Thursday.

No one was injured, but officials estimate there to be around $600,000 in damages.

Authorities arrived at a two-storey building between Jackson Street East and Hunter Street East just after 6 a.m.

The building is home to multiple businesses, including Bad and Boujee, a popular cocktail bar.

When crews arrived at the scene, they reported heavy smoke across the roof of the building.

Fire teams on site quickly made entry and began search and rescue operations.

They later reported that the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Authorities say they traced the fire to the back of the rear floor.

They added that the fire was able to extend into a stairwell leading to the second floor, but the damages were mostly contained to the first floor area.

Officials believe the fire started from an electrical overload.
