COVID-19 outbreaks in hospitals in our region

A pair of Hamilton hospitals were placed under outbreak protocol this weekend.

Two patients in the surgical oncology unit and Juravinski Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19. The unit is now closed to visits and new admissions.

The hospital’s acute medicine unit has also been under outbreak protocol since Apr. 19, after five patients tested positive.

Meanwhile, three patients and one staff member in the palliative care unit at St. Peter’s Hospital have tested positive. That unit will be closed to new admissions and visitors until the outbreak is declared over.

A COVID-19 outbreak has also been declared at the C2 stroke unit at Brantford General Hospital. One patient and one staff member tested positive.
