Police followed a black Volkswagen Golf that was driving erratically throughout Hamilton on Apr. 5, 2022. Witnesses say they saw the car on Upper James Street on Hamilton Mountain speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road and going through red lights. The car then made its way across the city to Burlington Street.
Officers said the man was driving the wrong way on Markland St. in downtown Hamilton and turned onto Park Ave. He then struck and killed Boris Brott, who lived in the neighbourhood. Lojovic was arrested a short time later on the mountain on Elmwood St.
Lojovic is charged with failing to stop at an accident causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.
The Crown wrapped up its case on Wednesday. The defence will have its opportunity Thursday morning. The defence lawyer hasn’t said if she’s going to be calling any witnesses or what the basis of the defence case will be.
