The Ministry of Labour is investigating, after a worker fell 55 floors to his death from a building under construction in downtown Toronto.

The man was on the 70th floor of the building on Yonge near Gerrard Street, when the lanyard that held his safety harness in place broke. He fell 181 meters, before landing on the rooftop of a building 24 meters away.

The Aura Condominium will be Canada’s tallest condo when construction on its 78 storeys is complete. Police and paramedics were still on scene into the evening.
