The Conservatives have won a federal byelection in Durham.

Lawyer and political commentator Jamil Jivani will represent the riding left empty by former conservative leader Erin O’Toole.

Jivani briefly had his own talk show radio show, titled Tonight with Jamil Jivani, which aired on Bell Media’s iHeartRadio Network. He was fired from the company in January of 2022.

His first government gig was as an advisor to the premier of Ontario as the governments first official Advocate for Community Opportunities.

Jivani beat out Liberal candidate Robert Rock and NDP candidate Chris Borgia on Monday.

Conservatives have represented Durham for two decades.

The Conservatives now have 117 seats in the House of Commons.
