Conrad Black out of jail; back in Toronto
Conrad Black is back in Toronto.
The former media baron was greeted by his wife, Barbara Amiel, at their Bridle Path home.
Black was released this morning from a Florida prison where he’s been serving a 42 month sentence for fraud and obstruction of justice. But his troubles aren’t over just yet. Black is facing a $70 million bill from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, and it’s unclear how long he’ll be able to stay in Canada.
Now a British citizen, Black renounced his Canadian citizenship in 2001 to join the British House of Lords. However Ottawa has granted his application for a one-year temporary residency permit.
