Completion of Hamilton’s Woodlands Park washroom delayed to late October

The rebuilding of Hamilton’s Woodlands Park washroom has been delayed once again due to vandalism and theft, according to the city.
The washroom in the park at Barton and Wentworth streets was destroyed by a fire in January last year.
The bathroom facilities were supposed to be completed by this summer.
Since the fire, the city demolished the old building and added brick and a roof to the new one.

The rebuild is estimated to cost $1.3 million.
The new completion date is now in late October, after vandalism and theft of copper piping from the water main line delayed the build.
Enhanced security measures are now in place, including cage doors and reinforced entry points.
While the washroom remains closed, the playground, soccer field and spray pad are open.
