The Neighbour to Neighbour food bank says this summer has been ideal for gardening. The organization runs a community garden network, giving low income families the chance to grow their own food.

“We’ve shattered records this year in terms of produce we brought in. Over 12,000 pounds of produce that’s been brought in…fresh produce in the hands of people who need it.”

Neighbour to Neighbour runs 28 gardens on the Hamilton mountain, 18 of them provide produce for their foodbank and kitchen programs.

The garden’s have already produced nearly double what they did last year at this time and the prime picking season is still ahead.
