Clarence Street Bridge in Port Colborne closed Friday

Port Colborne’s Clarence Street Bridge is closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Friday as it undergoes maintenance.
The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation says the vertical-lift bridge will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while necessary preventative maintenance is performed.
The Clarence Street Bridge, or Bridge 21, was constructed in 1929 to allow cars to travel from the east to the west side of the city.
Regular maintenance is required on bridges as they near 100-years-old to ensure their safety and continual integrity.
