City of Hamilton may build Pan Am Stadium alone

City councilors are ready to ditch a partnership with the public school board and build a $17 million rec centre near the Pan Am Stadium alone.

The original plan would have seen the city build a community centre attached to a new $32 million public high school on the site of the former Scott Park.

A motion is expected at today’s council meeting after it became clear that last week’s committee vote in favour of the partnership might not survive a full council vote.

It’s not clear if the revised plan might result in additional costs to the city or a scaled down project.
