Here’s a look at what’s open and closed in our area on Christmas Day:

CLOSED: 

  • Administrative Offices
  • Sexual Health clinics
  • Public health
  • Banks
  • Canada Post offices
  • Grocery stores
  • LCBO stores
  • Beer stores
  • Libraries
  • Housing Service office (350 King Street East)
  • Ontario Works
  • Hamilton Farmer’s Market

Hamilton Civic Museums and Recreation centres are all closed due to the city’s GREY-LOCKDOWN category.

OPEN:

  • Some restaurants (curbside pick-up and delivery only)
  • Most convenience stores

Garbage Collection

There will be no green cart, recycling, blue box, bulk waste, or garbage collection in Hamilton, Burlington, or Niagara region. Pick-up will be one day later for those with Friday collection.

Christmas tree collection 

Hamilton will be picking up natural Christmas trees on your regular collection day during the week of January 4th and January 11th.

Niagara Region will be picking up natural Christmas trees on your regular collection day during the week of January 11th and 15th.

Transit

HSR, Oakville Transit, and Burlington Transit will be operating on a Sunday/holiday schedule.

Niagara Region transit will not be operating on the holiday.
