Child killer Clifford Olson dead
One of Canada’s most notorious serial killers has died.
Clifford Olson died of cancer in a Quebec prison. He was 71.
The self proclaimed “beast of British Columbia” spent nearly 30 years in jail for murdering 11 boys and girls in the 1980’s.
He had been serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to torturing and killing eight girls and three boys between the ages of nine and 18.
Olson lured them with promises of a job – but then drugged and sexually assaulted them before dumping their bodies.
He was arrested in 1981, and pleaded guilty in 1982 in a very controversial deal. He told investigators where to find the bodies and in return his wife and son were paid $100,000.
Although some of the victims’ families are saying Olson’s death will bring them some peace, others say it won’t bring their children back.
The mother of Teri Lyn Carson, a 15 year old girl killed by Olson, says when she heard the news she yelled out that Olson was dead and started crying. She says it will provide closure for her.
Olson taunted family members, manipulating the legal system with bizarre claims and continued requests for parole.
