CHCH viewers help save Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue

A Niagara organization is thanking CHCH viewers for their overwhelming generosity. They say our viewers created a miracle that will let them keep up their work of rescuing horses and other animals that need help.
When CHCH came here in February, the future didn’t look great.
Sharon Wallace says, “It was terrible because we had a chance of the horses not having their forever home. Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue would have had nowhere to go.”
They needed $1.4 million to buy the land the farm was on, or they’d be out of a home.
And they managed to raise the money. Sharon Wallace says viewers who saw our story on CHCH donated $40,000.
Wallace says a foundation that wants to remain anonymous came up with $1.2 million after seeing our story.
The centre was able to buy the land for the animals. They’ll even be able to re-paint the barn thanks to a donation.
The sanctuary has 41 animals, including a pig, mule, goats, donkeys, ponies, and horses.
They say the animals respond to people with disabilities, elderly, or hospital patients, and they’ll be able to keep up their work.
The rescue centre is holding an open house on Saturday, September 30th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to thank the community for supporting them through tough times.
