Charges laid in fatal crash

A 27 year old Hamilton man is facing charges for his involvement in the city’s first fatal collision of the year.

The crash happened on the afternoon of January 17th at the intersection of Britannia Avenue and Paling Avenue. Police say the man was traveling south along Paling Avenue, when he collided into the passenger side of a car that was traveling west into the intersection. A 55 year old Hamilton woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 27 year old has been charged with careless driving, disobeying a stop sign and driving while under suspension.
