CHCH News anchor Matt Ingram spoke with the Niagara Irish Festival chairperson Sinéad McElhone on what makes the festival at Fireman’s Park “the best Irish music festival in North America.”
McElhone said the festival is the only one to feature a leprechaun brought in by helicopter, and a series of events that feature Irish dancing, and music, including a performance by local singer Paddyman.
Ingram asked how the festival came to be held in Niagara Falls, and the history of the people who emigrated from Ireland to live in the region centuries ago.
McElhone said that the number of attendees to the festival had grown since its first event in 2023, and that the leprechaun will be flown in at 11 a.m. Saturday to kick off the event.
