Cause & Effect restaurant reports positive COVID-19 case in Saturday night’s crowd
Cause & Effect Kitchen & Bar says it’s sanitizing the restaurant after patron tested positive for COVID-19.
The restaurant says a person who was there between 8 p.m. and midnight Saturday has tested positive for the virus.
Manager Jez Hundert has been in contact with this person.
He says the woman took her first test Saturday as a precaution, before a visit with a friend’s grandmother.
She went Cause and Effect that night and got her positive test result on Sunday.
Hundert says the woman told him she has no symptoms and is hoping it’s a false positive.
A Reddit post from Saturday night appears to show a full patio at the restaurant.
This weekend was the first one under Stage 3 of reopening, which includes loosened restrictions.
Restaurants can now have indoor dining but physical distancing and other protective measures remain in place.
Hamilton Public Health encourages restaurants to keep customer logs with names and contact information.
This information would be used for contact tracing in the event of a positive COVID-19 case.
