Catering company launched

Women living in the transitional program at Hamilton’s YWCA are eating better these days, thanks to the launch of their own catering company.

Women in transitional living help with the cooking and cleaning, they learn new skills from the chef, use local ingredients. And eventually the hope is the program will make enough money to be able to feed all 65 women three times a day.

You can find out more under the ‘At the Table’ link on the YWCA website. There’s a catering menu and pricing — they’ve been providing food for meetings at city hall and the courthouse and even a couple wedding this year — great food, reasonable prices and the knowledge that your money is supporting these women who are trying to turn their lives around. Also don’t forget the ‘Walk a Mile in her Shoes‘ event coming up June 19 at Gore Park. See firefighters and police officers and possibly even some CHCH personalities strapping on red stilettos and trying to walk, so they can support programs like this at the Y.
