Hamilton police say they were called to the scene of a car fire on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway overnight.

No injuries occurred but the road was closed briefly while crews cleaned up debris.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police say several people called in to report a car completely engulfed in flames near the Upper Wentworth on-ramp.

When they got to the scene, the driver was reportedly already standing outside the vehicle.

Officers say he had heard strange noises and saw smoke coming from the engine before he pulled over and jumped out of the car.

The road was briefly closed for cleanup but has since re-opened.
