Canadians recognize ‘Indigenous Veterans Day’

Canadians are commemorating the work and sacrifices of Indigenous service members in the two world wars and the Korean war.
With Remembrance Day upon us, today marks National Indigenous Veterans Day.
Canadians took to social media to share stories and participated in ceremonies nationwide.
But, the day of honour wasn’t recognized until 1994 in the prairies. It’s a day many within First Nations communities want to see commemorated in a bigger way, especially because of the fact that more than 7,000 Indigenous service members served within those three wars.
