State police in New Mexico are investigating after the bodies of a Canadian woman and her husband were found inside a pickup truck.

Ursula Tammy Kokotkiewicz, 32, and Jacob Kokotkiewicz, 31, were discovered Thursday morning in a blue Dodge truck on the shoulder of an interstate highway.

New Mexico police said in a news release that officers saw the truck when they were responding to an unrelated call.

Police say both were shot and that a handgun was found in the man’s lap.

According to the Canadian Press, New Mexico State Police spokesman Carl Christensen said she was living with her husband in Flower Mound, Texas, which is about 45 kilometres northwest of Dallas.

On her Facebook page, Kokotkiewicz said she went to the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.

Police are not looking for any suspects but say the investigation is ongoing.
