Canadian Tire to buy Hudson’s Bay intellectual property, iconic stripes for $30 million

Canadian Tire announced yesterday it will pay $30 million for the intellectual property of Hudson’s Bay, Canada’s oldest company.
The sale, which still needs approval from an Ontario court, would include the Hudson’s Bay brand and its iconic, three-stripes motif, the apparel line Hudson North and houseware brands Gluckstein and Distinctly Home.
Canadian Tire also owns SportChek, Party City, Mark’s and Pro Hockey Life, a hockey mega-store.
