Canadian Screen Awards Winners

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television crowned the nation’s best films and television series at the Canadian Screen Awards Sunday night, and it was Xavier Dolan’s Mommy that came out as the big winner taking home 9 awards. The young director’s French language feature was crowned Best Motion Picture and its cast won three of the four acting trophies. Dolan himself also won two awards for Achievement in Direction and Best Original Screenplay.

Other big winners of the night were Pompeii which won 5 awards, mostly in technical categories, and two-time winner Maps to the Stars which picked up awards for Best Original Score and a Best Supporting Actor win for John Cusack.
