Canadian country musician Dean Brody is bringing his newest single, and maybe even a taste of some of the songs he’s working on, to Niagara Falls for a big show this weekend.
He’s playing the OLG stage at the Fallsview Casino Saturday night, and he sat down with CHCH News anchor Matt Ingram to talk about what fans can expect.
His newest single is called Drink Around — a fun and upbeat new track released in the summer from British Columbia-born country musician.
It’s just one of the tunes he is expected to play at Fallsview this weekend.
“I’ll do the new single — I might try even, maybe a couple of other ones out just acoustically, to show people, you know my fans and stuff, what we’ve been working on,” said Brody.
The track is the first single off his milestone 10th studio album, which is set to be released next year.
“Pretty excited about the new music,” said Brody. “It’s been a lot of work, but certainly worth it, and I’ll be excited to get out and tour on that album as well.”
Brody says the new album will be different from his previous work, saying that it represents a shift in direction.
“Just as an artist, we just all keep evolving as the years go by, and I think there’s another side of me that will show up in this group of songs, in this project,” said Brody. “Then there’s a couple of rough-edged songs: we got a song called Death of Me that’s really angsty.”
Saturday night’s show at Fallsview is one of only two shows he has scheduled for right now, but he says plans are in the works for a new tour.
“Been a couple of years now, so we’re excited by that,” said Brody. “Whether we do theatres, arenas, I think I know what we’re gonna do, but that’s still in the works.”
In the meantime, Brody says he’s excited to get back to Niagara.
“Man, I love being down in that country, it’s amazing like, the Niagara region is beautiful,” said Brody. “Every time I’m down there, it’s good to play the show, but it’s also just great to take in the sights and the town.”
Brody is looking forward to playing some of his older songs this Saturday, especially Time.
“It’s probably my favourite song to sing,” said Brody. “It was something I wrote really fast and didn’t think it would amount to much, but it seems to be something that everybody resonates with. So I love playing it man, I just play it by myself — myself and an acoustic guitar. It’s a moment in the night that’s really intimate, and I love sharing that memory, making that memory during a show with everybody.”
Tickets are still available on Ticketmaster for his concert at the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino this Saturday at 8 p.m.
The country musician Nate Haller is the opening act.
