Canada has slipped down a few spots on this year’s World Happiness Report dropping down from 18th to 25th most happiest country.
The report is published every year by the University of Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Centre.
It blames heavy social media use for a stark decline in happiness among young people.
Canada finished behind the 23rd-ranked United States.
The effects are particularly worrying in teenage girls in English-speaking countries and western Europe.
Finland is the happiest land in the world for the ninth year in a row.
Canada has been steadily declining down the list since 2015, where it placed fifth happiest.
As in previous years, nations in or near zones of major conflict remain at the bottom of the rankings with Afghanistan ranked as the unhappiest country again, followed by Sierra Leone and Malawi in Africa.
