Some disturbing statistics out of Niagara around the public’s response to symptoms of stroke. When the most common signs of the condition appear in a person, almost 50% of Peninsula residents delay in calling 911.

And they are not alone. Provincial figures indicate only 54% of Ontarians make that critical call. Medical experts want to see those numbers rise. Seeking medical attention quickly gives patients timely access to important clot busting drugs.

A reminder that the most common stroke symptoms include blurred vision, unusual headache, a sense of numbness or tingling in arms or legs, a loss of memory and a loss of balance.
