Burnt human remains found in shallow grave in Pickering

Durham police are investigating after human remains were discovered in a shallow grave in Pickering.

On Sunday, August 21, at around 2:30 p.m., police were called to the area of Concession Road 8 and Sideline 20 after a citizen located burnt human remains in a shallow grave.

Forensic Investigators were called to assist and are working with the Office of the Chief Coroner and a Forensic Anthropologist to recover the remains.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine more details about the deceased.

Police are asking any witnesses who may have information or who may have used the off-road/ATV trail in the last three weeks to come forward and speak with investigators.
