Burlington Sound of Music Festival rocks 4-day weekend with all-Canadian lineup

Thursday marks the beginning of the four-day music festival at Spencer Smith Park in Burlington, featuring an “all-Canadian powerhouse lineup.”
One of the largest music events held in the region, the festival this year is featuring headline acts including Big Wreck, David Wilcox, Tebey, Steven Page, Joel Plaskett, Tim Baker and Junkhouse.
“This year, we made a conscious decision to ignite the stage with an all-Canadian powerhouse line up,” said Dave Shepherd, the festival board chair in a released statement. “It was time for us to shine the spotlight on some homegrown talent on the incredible talent from our own backyard. Staging the festival is a huge undertaking and we’re proud that Burlington is synonymous with the Sound of Music – Canada’s largest free music festival.”
Food trucks, festival rides as part of The Midway, vendors and musicians will be setting up in the park, with performances beginning at the TD Main Stage and the Access Storage West Stage at 5:30 p.m.

The Grand Festival Parade will also be marching along Brant Street and Grahams Lane Saturday at 11 a.m., with bands, floats, local performers and vintage vehicles crowding the roads.
The festival continues to be free to attend for general admission.

Roads in Burlington to be closed for four day music festival
Lakeshore Road from Elizabeth Street to Maple Avenue will be closed from June 13 to June 15 nightly, from 10 p.m. to midnight, and on June 16 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Brant Street from Graham Lane to Lakeshore Road, and Elgin Street from Brant to Locust Streets will be closed Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Grand Festival Parade.

Temporary parking restrictions will be posted in the area to ensure clearance for emergency vehicle access and traffic flow.
All parking restrictions will be enforced.
Burlington Transit bus route detours will be in effect for Route 2 during the parade, and Route 10, the late-night route 50, and Hamilton Streetcar Railway transit route 11 will be detouring during the night.
