Burlington man dies of injuries after weekend crash in Pelham, Ont.

A Burlington man has died from his injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Pelham, Ont., early Sunday morning.

It happened around 4:20 a.m. on Victoria Avenue between Wiley and Foss roads.

Niagara police say a 2019 Lincoln MKX rear-ended a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, forcing the Equinox off the road and into a ditch.

The 71-year-old driver of the Equinox was transported to an out-of-region hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. But on Tuesday, he died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

The 21-year-old man who was driving the Lincoln sustained minor injuries. The Wainfleet, Ont., resident was charged under the Highway Traffic Act at the scene.

Police say there were no other occupants in either vehicle.

Niagara police say the area of the collision will be closed for more than three hours Wednesday as their Collision Reconstruction Unit investigates.
