Burlington homicide victim identified

Halton Police have confirmed the identity of the woman found dead in an apartment in Burlington earlier this week.

She has been identified as 32 year-old Elizabeth Nugent.

The cause of death has not been confirmed.

The incident happened Monday on Pearl Street.

Police had been negotiating with a man who was inside the apartment all afternoon.

Tactical officers eventually forced their way into his unit and tasered the man.

41-year old Malcolm Copeland of Markham is charged with second degree murder.

Police say Copeland and Nugent were in a relationship.

Copeland is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
