A group of “Burlington dads” spent the week collecting empty bottles for charity and today they reached over 40,000 units. What was supposed to be a small one-day event last weekend turned into a week-long group-led collection that ended today in Burlington. The effort by the Burlington group exceeded expectations as they have now been able to raise at least $6,000. It wasn’t just the group that got involved many across the community joined the cause including Mayor Marianne Meed Ward who wanted to show support for the Burlington dads. The Burlington dads have decided to split the earnings between Halton women’s place and the Burlington food bank.
