Burlington company fined for dumping

Green Diesel Canada Limited has been fined $120,000 for dumping waste oil sludge into a municipal ditch in Hamilton.

The dumped waste then polluted the ditch, which flows into Sinkhole Creek.

Those waters eventually lead to Lake Ontario.

The City of Hamilton cleaned up the area, after reports came in about a greasy oily substance in the ditch.

The company has been given 12 months to pay the fines and clean-up costs.
