Burlington is getting ready for patio season.
The city has approved a new permanent seasonal outdoor patio program, which will start this spring.
It’s also bringing back fees for temporary patios on public lands.

Those fees were waived during the pandemic.
Applications are now on the city of Burlington’s website, and they’ll begin accepting applicants starting early next month.
Business owners who want to open their patios by the middle of April are encouraged to get their applications in by March 15th.
The change will allow the city to work with business owners to fast-track patio approvals. To qualify, businesses must:
Applications will cost $492.92 and will include a seasonal permit fee of $40.00 per square metre.
“Our outdoor patios are well loved and used by visitors and residents alike,” said Burlington Mayor Marianne Ward.
“We took what we learned during the COVID-19 pandemic and expanded it to create beautiful, pedestrian-friendly and accessible outdoor spaces on both private and public lands across Burlington.”
