Burford, Ont. resident loses $5K to home repair scam: police

Brant County OPP are investigating a fraudulent construction company who allegedly scammed a Burford, Ont. resident.

Police say on Jan. 13 officers spoke with a complainant who said a construction company called “24 Hour Roofing and Masonry” has been going to Brant County homes selling home repairs and renovations.

On Jan, 9th, around 11:00 a.m., the complainant paid a male representative of the company $5,000 for chimney repairs to his home.

The work was started but never completed.

The employee is described as male, white, approximately 35- years-old, six-feet tall, 230 pounds and driving a black pick-up truck.

The Brant County OPP reminds residents to stay alert to any door-to-door salespersons. They say, you, the homeowner should do your own homework when verifying a company’s credentials and background check.

Police are asking any one who lives in the Brant County area and has video footage of the representative from this company or a licence plate to his vehicle, please contact the Brant County OPP regarding this incident # E260055188.
