Hamilton police are asking the public for help in connection with a brazen jewellery store robbery on James Street North that happened just before 10 Friday morning, a very busy time in the city’s downtown core.

Police say they were called to the Jewel Box jewellery store across the street from Jackson Square. They say three men demanded money and jewellery from the 72-year old female employee who was working alone inside the store. One of them assaulted her with what’s believed to be a handgun. Once the suspects had some cash and jewellery, they took off onto James Street North and then into a nearby alley. The woman was taken to hospital but her injures are minor and she’s expected to be okay. The suspects are described as three black men. Two in their early twenties and one believed to be in his thirties.

The first was wearing a dark hoodie, blue jeans, white running shoes, and was carrying a dark coloured knapsack.

The second was wearing white pants, a white baseball hat, black winter jacket, and black shoes.

And the third, wearing blue jeans, black winter jacket, and black baseball hat.

Once again, this robbery occurred in broad daylight, just before 10 Friday morning on James Street North. Police are asking anyone with information to give them a call.
