Brantford police are warning the public of the release of a high-risk sexual offender.

William Michael Smith, 62, was convicted in 2016 for eight separate charges, including sexual assault, 15 counts of sexual interference and three counts of possess child pornography.

Smith is described as six-foot-one, 225 lbs and having green eyes and grey hair.

He was released on June 28 on statutory release after serving two thirds of his sentence. His release conditions include remaining in Brantford, going to counselling and not being in the presence of any person under 18 years old unless under the supervision of a person who has been approved by the court.

Smith is also not permitted to contact the victims and their family except for judicial proceedings, mediation sessions and the Correctional Service of Canada’s Restorative Opportunities program with written permission from a parole supervisor.

The victims involved in prior incidents have been notified of his release.

If members of the public see Smith breaching any of the terms of his release, police said to not approach him and call 911.
