Brantford police seize over $25K in illegal mushrooms, arrest one woman

Brantford police say they have seized over $25,000 in illegal psychedelic mushrooms and arrested one woman in connection with the investigation.

Authorities initiated an investigation into an illegal psilocybin shop which had reopened on Murray Street. The illegal business had been previously shut down by police on three other occasions.

On Oct. 3, officers executed a search warrant at the businesses and seized 2,319 grams of suspected psilocybin with an estimated street value of $25,000.

As a result, a 39-year-old Brantford woman stands charged with the following offence:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Schedule III to wit: Psilocybin, Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The Brantford Police Service is reminding the public that the sale and purchase of psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms, remains illegal in Canada.
