Brantford police have arrested a second man Monday related to a robbery and shooting, that took place earlier in January in downtown Brantford.
Officers arrested and charged an 18-year-old man from Mississauga as a second suspect in a robbery that took place in the area of Colborne and Alfred streets at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, 2025.
At the robbery, two people had been shot and a third person was assaulted.
Police had provided CHCH News the address of the Downtown Pawnbrokers, but did not confirm if the robbery took place inside the building.
Emergency crews found three people who had sustained serious injuries before transporting them to hospital.
Detectives have not revealed the arrested 18-year-old’s name, but they say that they have charged him with multiple offences, including two counts of attempt to murder, one count of aggravated assault and one count of robbery with a firearm.
The suspect was held for bail and appeared at a courthouse on Tuesday.
Police had also arrested a 21-year-old man from the Dundalk on the night of the robbery.
Investigators say the man had fled from the scene of the robbery in a stolen vehicle, before being arrested by Brantford police dog Mack later that night.
Detectives have also not revealed the arrested 21-year-old man’s name.
Officers say they have charged the man with two counts of attempt to murder, one count with discharging a firearm with intent and one count of aggravated assault, along with other charges.
While the investigation is ongoing, police are unable to provide any more information.
