Brantford police arrest man believed to be responsible for motel robbery

The Brantford Police Service have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a robbery at a motel on Tuesday.

Officers received a report of a robbery involving a firearm at a Colborne St. motel around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The accused allegedly forcibly entered the victim’s room at the motel brandishing a firearm and robbed the victim of a small amount of money before fleeing on foot.

The victim did not report any physical injuries.

Police conducted an investigation and were able to locate and arrest the accused near Market St. South and Icomm Dr. around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators received information indicating that the accused was currently in violation of a valid release order and two firearm prohibition orders.

After obtaining a warrant for a motor vehicle associated with the accused on Thursday, officers were able to locate and seize two firearms.

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old man from Brantford is facing seven charges including robbery with a firearm and failure to comply with judicial release.

Following his arrest, the accused was held for bail.
