Brantford police arrest 2 people after road rage incident with gun

Brantford police have arrested two people after receiving reports of an active road rage incident involving a handgun Wednesday night.
Officers say they responded around 5:30 p.m. as a 20-year-old male passenger was in a vehicle travelling westbound on Powerline Road towards Paris Road, behind the victim’s vehicle.
Investigators say the victim continued to drive to get away from the accused. The two vehicles continued northbound onto Paris Road, when the victim pulled over.

Police say the accused also stopped, left his vehicle, and began to punch the passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle.
Officer arrived at this time and saw the accused drop a firearm on the road before running to his vehicle.
They say the accused man resisted arrest and assaulted an officer while trying to escape.
Police seized the firearm and arrested the accused man shortly after. He is facing charges for possessing a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to resist arrest, and pointing firearm, among others. Officers say he was also in violation of a valid release order.

A 19-year-old woman who was driving the suspect vehicle was also arrested.
A search following the arrest found that the accused man was in possession of approximately 11.4 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $2,850 and a quantity of Canadian currency.
The accused woman was found to be in possession of approximately 0.8 grams of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of $80.
The accused man was held for bail and the accused woman was released.
