Brantford police have arrested a man after reports of an impaired driver driving recklessly in a park.

Police were called to Cedarland Park around 2:45 p.m. on June 5.

Reports say witnesses saw the driver drinking alcohol while speeding within the park, and eventually across the soccer field.

Police say they located the car in a basketball court where they advised the man he was under arrest.

He resisted the officers, but was eventually taken into custody.

The man was transported to provide breath samples. Both provided were over double the legal limit.

Many families and children were at the park, but no injuries were reported.

The 29-year-old man from Brantford was charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation, police officer obstruction, and mischief under $5000.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
