Brantford man charged in $5M cocaine bust

Brantford police have charged a local man in a cocaine bust valued at more than $5 million.
The arrest occurred after multiple search warrants following a report of a suspicious vehicle on a local business property on Aug. 2.
Police were able to identify the suspect as a Brantford man and later arrested him at a residence without incident.
A transport truck, tractor trailer, two vehicles, a local business and a West Brant residence were searched by police.
Over 150 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $5,040,000, were found in a vehicle and seized by authorities.
Members of the Drug Firearms Enforcement Unit, Criminal Intelligence Unit, Emergency Response Team, K9, Forensic Identification Unit and frontline platoon officers were involved in the investigation.
The registered driver of the tractor trailer was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
