Brantford emergency officials on scene at massive fire in vacant building
Emergency crews are on scene in Brantford after a fire broke out at Mohawk Plaza on Colborne Street overnight.
Fire crews received reports of the fire shortly before 2 a.m.
According to officials, the fire started in a vacant building, and the cause remains unknown at this time.
Firefighters say the flames had spread to neighbouring buildings, destroying two empty units and two businesses.
The Army, Navy & Air Force Club was one of the businesses that caught on fire.
An official with Brantford police says any vacant building that has fire damage is considered suspicious, but the investigation is in its preliminary stages.
There have been no reports of injuries.
Police were on scene for much of the day closing off the plaza to the public for several hours.
