Boy charged, girl hospitalized after ‘edged weapon’ incident at Hamilton high school

Hamilton police say a boy is in custody and a girl is in hospital following an “incident involving an edged weapon” Thursday at Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School.
Emergency crews responded shortly before 12 p.m. to the high school on Hamilton Mountain.
Officers would not specify whether the “edged weapon” was a knife or if it was a stabbing.

But police did confirm that a 16-year-old girl was taken to McMaster Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
Hamilton police arrested a 16-year-old boy with assault with a weapon.
The high school was in a hold and secure, but it has since been lifted.

Police have one male youth in custody and another female youth has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
School Hold and Secure has been removed.
