Boy, 15, charged with assault in Welland restaurant stabbing

Police have charged a 15-year-old boy with assault following a stabbing at a restaurant in Welland Monday night.

Officers responded to the establishment on Lincoln St. near King St. shortly after 9 p.m.

Paramedics brought a 15-year-old victim with serious non-life-threatening injuries to an out-of-region hospital.

Investigators say two groups of youths – including the suspect and victim – had previously been involved in a fight. The altercation rekindled when the groups saw each other in the restaurant, where it resulted in a physical fight with a knife.

Police have arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy from Welland with assault with a weapon.
