Body found in Hong Kong could be missing Canadian

Police in Hong Kong are investigating whether a body discovered in the city last Wednesday is that of a missing Canadian.

Meanwhile, family members are confirming on Facebook that the body is that of Joseph Basha, a 25-year-old student from St. John’s, Newfoundland, who disappeared on Dec. 21.

A police spokesperson said that on that same day, a body of a foreigner aged 25 to 30 was found collapsed in a public toilet.

The spokesperson said the body had no identification and the initial investigation suggests the death is not suspicious.

Some relatives of the missing man’s family were asked to go to Hong Kong to identify the body.
