Blues legend B.B. King has died.

The 89-year-old guitarist had recently returned to his home in Las Vegas after a brief stay in hospital for high blood pressure and diabetes.

It was the second time in a month that King, who has lived with diabetes for more than 20 years, had been admitted to hospital.

He was forced to cancel the final shows of his 2014 tour last October after falling ill in Chicago.

With more than 50 albums under his belt, King was known for hits such as “Three O’Clock Blues” from 1952, “The Thrill is Gone” in 1970 and the 1989 duet “When Love Comes to Town” with Irish rockers U2.

He was awarded his 15th Grammy in 2009 in the traditional blues album category for “One Kind Favor.”
