Blue Jays make big moves in trade market
Despite their internal belief in the current roster, the Toronto Blue Jays’ front office made some significant moves in the trade market.
During the MLB Winter Meetings, Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins acquired Gold Glove infielder Andrés Giménez and relief pitcher Nick Sandlin in a trade with the Cleveland Guardians.
This move follows the Blue Jays watching star outfielder Juan Soto switch allegiances, leaving the New York Yankees for their cross-town rivals, the New York Mets.
It may not be the move Blue Jays fans were expecting, but it’s one that will likely bolster their defense.
Meanwhile, the Jays’ front office appears to remain active in the free-agent and trade markets.
