Serious injuries have been reported following several multi-vehicle crashes on Highway 403 in Brantford due to blowing snow Tuesday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to a seven-vehicle crash, a three-vehicle collision and four other jackknifed transport trucks.

OPP say a 36-year-old from Brantford involved in the three-vehicle crash was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 403 were closed for several hours between Garden Avenue and Highway 52.

The westbound lanes of the highway were also closed periodically to remove vehicles involved in the collisions.

Police say that portion of Highway 403 has now been reopened.
