Bird poop the culprit in Waterloo area drone investigation
A Waterloo police investigation has determined that an unknown substance a suspected drone was allegedly dropping on homes and cars was bird poo.
In August Waterloo Regional Police began looking into mischief involving “suspicious drone activity” after receiving multiple complaints of “harassing behaviour” and property damage in Ayr, in the Township of North Dumfries.
Investigators said that they initially believed a first-person view drone flew over a residential area on multiple nights and dropped the mysterious substance on houses and cars.
Police say the University of Guelph assisted with the investigation.
It was determined that the substance was heron feces and there had been no criminal activity.
The case is now closed.
